Stakeholder Engagement
The Stakeholder Engagement session was anchored by Obinna Nwagbara from Youth and
Students Advocates for Development Initiative (YSAD). An interesting session bordering on
who Stakeholders are, their role in the attainment of project objectives as well as how to
engage them were discussed. In the experience sharing session, Stakeholders are seen as the
groups or individuals whose interests are impacted positively or negatively by the project or
whose interests can impact the project. Involving stakeholders is often seen as a means to
more successful implementation of projects. Hence, it is appropriate to carry out stakeholder
mapping and analysis for enhanced efficiency and program delivery.
Other highlights of the discussion were:
- The success to Stakeholders engagement is communication.
- Maintaining supportive relationships with stakeholders is also key
- Being more deliberate in networking
- Telling everyone around you about your work as you may be able to be linked by
- someone who knows someone who can help meet program objectives.
- Be attentive not to undermine certain levels of networks and relationship
- Celebrate your stakeholder
- Be equal to all stakeholder level
