Speak Up, Stand Out and Break the Bias (SUSO March 2022 Newsletter)

Breaking the Bias

Breaking the bias is a call to rid the world of all these barriers and biases, forge equality, encourage empowerment, and elevate the visibility of women globally. We are excited that the Speak Up, Stand Out Program also aims to achieve this as our activists are lending their voice for women's inclusion and empowerment across the board.

This year, March 8, the universally recognized day for highlighting the plights of women and celebrating their audacious spirits, bravery, intelligence, strength, and achievements, dawned with a theme that highlights the need to take action to ensure equality and a level playing field.

"Breaking the bias" calls to attention the need to challenge the agelong oppression of women, prejudices, stereotypes, discrimination, inequalities, underestimations, and ingrained attitudes and beliefs.

We have to continually advocate for the inclusion of women in all facets of life, encourage women to support other women, encourage women to attain their full potential, and fight against making the world’s highest peaks the most inhospitable places for women. We believe that celebrating the passion, persistence, and achievements of women and womanhood all over the globe will serve to create a form of awareness of the existing biases, build and strengthen our confidence in our abilities, give us the strength and courage to further dismantle, oppose, and rebuild a world where equality thrives.

The celebration of women this month is an urgent call for us all to stand tall, reflect on all we've achieved and can achieve, celebrate our valour, hold our heads high and break all biases, one bias at a time.
