In expanding the conversations about exploiting the value of social media for development, this
open space section delved into how social media can be used to harness positive change. It
was a practical hands-on session and based on the needs of the participants, the facilitator
spoke about how to open personal accounts and create simple posts on two platforms namely
LinkedIn and Twitter.
The following steps were highlighted on how to create an account on LinkedIn.
- Sign up with your email address.
- Create a new password and confirm the password.
- Building your connections by following people relevant to your field.
- Post frequently about your niche so people can get to connect with you.
- Spotlight the services you offer on your bio.
- List relevant skills related to your field of expertise.
The next series was how to get verified on twitter in few simple steps
- Provide the link to an official website that references you (or your organization) and your Twitter account.
- Provide a photo of a valid official government issued identification document, such as your Driver’s License or Passport.
