The #SpeakUpStandOutNG Program is empowering young people with media and information knowledge and grassroots mobilisation skills to participate meaningfully in the socio-political development of their communities by maximising digital platforms for social mobilisation, amplifying youth voices and developing people-led campaigns on issues that affect youth and influencing policies that affect youth.
As the political scenes within Nigeria begin to come alive again, some of the biggest questions on the minds of young professionals and youth leaders would be: Are we ready to make the right choices on candidates required for the sustainable development of Nigeria? What should be the user persona of our leaders and representatives at the state assemblies, state governments, national assemblies and the presidency?
These are huge questions that we must answer collectively in the coming weeks, starting from party primaries, but only if we are active and registered members of the political parties (to influence primaries in the smallest way possible); and have registered to vote in the coming elections. To be eligible to vote, you need to register. How many young people have validly registered to vote (oh there is a huge problem of validity as INEC recently mentioned that nearly 45% Of Voter Registration were Invalid)? What have you done to get people to register?
Through its activists, SUSO is implementing community actions geared towards encouraging voter registration with a focus on young people, and mobilisation of young people to take active parts in politics as members of political parties. Please follow SUSO on social media to see what we are, and where we are headed.
