The ARTvocacy Festival

On Friday, December 9 and Sunday, December 18, 2022 Street Project Foundation with support from VOICE held the biggest youth festival in the city of Abuja and Enugu respectively- The Artvocacy Festival.

This Festival comes a year after the activation of the Artvocacy movement in Abuja and Enugu. It was organized to serve as a platform that gives youths a voice to use their creative Art to speak up and not shut up about the social justice issues that they care about.

Some of the key highlights of the festival include the screening of 3 short films created by the young people of the Artvocacy movement (You can watch them here); The showcase of the stage plays, Barcode(Abuja) and Bolo Bolo(Enugu); The mock Elections where we got the Artvocates to stage a mock presidential debate and encouraged the audience to vote for their preferred candidate and finally, the launch of our coffee table book - a photo story book curated to tell the stories of the social justice issues prevalent in our country today.

We also had some key stakeholders address the young people in attendance at the festival. Most notably is the representative of the Attorney General of the Federation from the Ministry of Justice, Mrs Chinelo Iriele and the Deputy Country Director of Oxfam and Head of programs, Mr Abdulazeez Musa. They both encouraged the youth to remain steadfast in their fight for a new Nigeria and also implored them to come out and vote for the leaders of their choice.

The Artvocacy Festival is here to stay and we can’t wait for the next edition.
