Creating Hope Among Nigerian Girls through Economic Enterprise (CHANGE) in FCT urban slums (Mpape and Kubwa)

Our project is aimed at lifting 12 Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) aged 18-30 years out of abject poverty


NAYA, a Youth-led non-governmental organization was formed in 2012 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) on 19th June 2014. NAYA was founded by a coalition of several youth led and youth serving organizations with over 100- member organizations across six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Novel Association for Youth Advocacy (NAYA)’s mission is to create an enabling environment that fosters empowerment for adolescent and youth through advocacy, networking, service delivery and campaigns with a view to creating a society where adolescent and youth concerns, rights, and dignity are recognized and addressed by the government, individuals and institutions. NAYA’s envisions a society where young persons (adolescents and youth) have equitable access to quality health, education and sustainable livelihood irrespective of their ethnic, religious affiliations, gender, disability or HIV status for their optimal development and functioning. The coalition prioritizes human rights especially for adolescents and youths, and gender equality and equity through: ?Advocacy for the implementation of adolescent and youth focused policies. ?Provision of information and services that increase young people’s access to sexual reproductive health and rights. ?Economic Empowerment and Household Livelihood strengthening for Adolescents and Young Persons. ?Developing, expanding, and institutionalizing youth-friendly services in a variety of settings. ?Improving the health and well-being of women, infants, and children through innovative Sexual and Reproductive Health information and services ?Supporting economic and social engineering activities aimed at empowering adolescent mothers and improving their social status and ?Strengthening the institutional capacity of community-oriented structures so they can better plan, implement, manage, and sustain programs and services for children, youth, and adolescent mothers. Our Key Values: ?Creativity and innovation ?Participation and teamwork ?Transparency and honesty ?Equity and Equality ?Commitment ?Devotion and dedication ?Volunteerism ?Concern for Humanity NAYA has continually targeted Adolescents, Youth, Young Women, Girl Child, Young Persons with Disability, and most recently, Key populations (IDPs & Slum dwellers) through effective utilization of strategies such as Advocacy, Capacity Building, System Strengthening, Mentorship, Behaviour Change Communication, livelihood strengthening, Networking and Service Delivery. NAYA’s value is empowerment, resilience, Self-reliance, nation building, giving hope to vulnerable and marginalized young persons through empowerment especially young girls and women who are out of school and facing abuse. We firmly believe that when these persons are empowered, both national and generational growth and well-being will be guaranteed.
